Rating:4.5/5⭐

🤍Thank you

First and foremost I would like to thank Author Janisha Boswell and Little Brown Book UK publication for giving me the ARC of the book in return for an honest review. I'm truly Grateful

✨ A Soft Glimpse

A tension-filled rivals-to-lovers romance where years of family rivalry slowly unravel into obsession, yearning, vulnerability, and a love that was quietly there all along.

🌸 My Thoughts…

Honestly, it had been SO long since I last read a proper rivals-to-lovers romance and this book absolutely ate the trope up.

When I first started reading, I’m not gonna lie—I wasn’t completely feeling it at first.

The banter was cute, the characters were interesting, but I just couldn’t fully connect with the story in the beginning. But something kept telling me to continue reading…

And honestly?
I’m SO glad I did.

Because once this book picked up in the middle, I was INVESTED.

Did I absolutely love it after that?
Yessss 😭

A book where the FMC hates him while the MMC is completely and utterly obsessed with her??
Yeah. Exactly what I needed.

💞 What Made Me Swoon

Evan and Scarlett come from rival families who have been at odds for years, but meanwhile this man Evan was out here being OBSESSED with her for basically forever.

And not casual obsession either.

I’m talking:
willing-to-survive-on-the-smallest-crumbs-of-her-attention kind of obsessed.

Which honestly made me wish I had a blond-haired rival secretly down bad for me too 🤣

And can we PLEASE talk about how it’s always the quiet nerdy men who end up being the freakiest ones because Evan truly proved that theory right.

This man lived to push Scarlett’s buttons.

Honestly irritating her should’ve been his full-time profession because there wasn’t a single second where he wasn’t provoking her somehow 😂

But underneath all that teasing?

The way he noticed the tiniest details about her, remembered every small thing she said, immediately showed up whenever she was in trouble, and constantly proved through actions that he’d always have her back…

UGH.

“There aren’t enough words in the English language to know how it feels like to kiss her again.”

SIR???
EXCUSE ME???

And honestly what made me love Evan even more was watching his character growth throughout the book. Beneath all the teasing and obsession, there was someone incredibly gentle, loyal, and emotionally devoted to Scarlett in a way that genuinely made me swoon.

Now Scarlett??

I absolutely loved her.

Her strength, resilience, humor, emotional growth, and personality in general made her such an enjoyable FMC to read about.

Watching her slowly evolve throughout the story felt empowering and natural at the same time.

And together?

Their chemistry, the tension, the banter, the emotional vulnerability, the understanding between them—it all felt SO right.

I also genuinely loved the friendship dynamics throughout the book because it made the story feel even more alive and fun.

And honestly? The fact that these two were both so oblivious to each other’s feelings until being forced together for a project had me giggling the entire time because THEY WERE SO CLEARLY GONE FOR EACH OTHER 😭

💔 What Stayed With Me

The way Evan loved Scarlett through actions more than words.

Even when she pushed him away, irritated him, or tried to deny the tension between them, this man stayed consistently there for her.

🌙 A Small Wish

The beginning took me a little while to fully connect with emotionally, but once the story picked up, I genuinely couldn’t stop reading.

🌷 Final Page

This book was fun, tension-filled, emotional, swoony, and exactly the kind of rivals-to-lovers romance I needed.

The obsession? Top tier.
The chemistry? Amazing.
The banter? So entertaining.

Definitely such a good read and one I’d absolutely recommend if you love obsessed MMCs and rivals-to-lovers dynamics.
