Saving soul by Ann Penny (Netgalley ARC review) - She is the only one who could make him believe in love💙😊

Rating: 3/5⭐
✨ A Soft Glimpse
A story filled with grief, healing, and unexpected connections—woven with moments of warmth, family, and a love that tries to find its place.
I don’t think I’ve ever loved a side character more than the main characters… but I guess there’s a first time for everything.
Because in this book? Grandpa Liam completely stole my heart.
Going into this, I was genuinely excited. A single mom, a death doula, and a reformed billionaire playboy? It had so many elements I usually love—especially the single parent trope, which is one of my absolute favorites.
And while this book had its moments… I can’t deny that something just didn’t fully click for me.
💞 What Made Me Swoon
Let’s talk about the parts that did work for me.
Grandpa Liam… he was everything. His presence, his warmth, the emotional depth he brought to the story—I was completely attached. And when that moment came? I had a full sob fest. Truly, one of the main reasons I kept turning the pages was because of him.
Cassidy was such a beautiful character in her own way. Being a death doula is something I’ve never come across in a romance before, and I really appreciated that unique aspect of her character. She was compassionate, grounding, and such a source of emotional support—not just for Liam, but for the entire family.
And as a mother? She was incredible. The way she showed up for Finn, the way she balanced everything—it was so heartwarming to see.
Adam… he had his moments. I could see the care beneath everything—the way he stood up for Cassidy in front of his family, the way he cared for her son… those glimpses made me want to love him more.
💔 What Stayed With Me
The emotional core of the story—grief, family, and quiet support—was something that really stood out, especially through Liam and Cassidy’s bond.
🌙 A Small Wish
That said, I struggled to fully connect with the characters and the story overall.
The beginning felt a bit off for me, and Adam’s hot-and-cold behavior was frustrating at times—I just wanted to shake some sense into him. While his actions later helped balance that out, it still affected my connection to him.
I also felt like something was missing emotionally. The single POV didn’t help much either—I would have loved more insight into Adam’s thoughts earlier in the story instead of just in the epilogue.
🌷 Final Page
Overall, this was a good read with some really touching moments, especially when it came to family and emotional depth.
It didn’t fully resonate with me the way I hoped it would, but it still had elements that made it worth the read—especially if you enjoy softer, slower, character-driven romances.
