✨ A Soft Glimpse
A chaotic dark grumpy x sunshine romance filled with obsession, tension, possessiveness, and two people who completely throw each other off balance in the best way possible.
🌸 My Thoughts…
So who knew starting this series would end up being one of the best decisions of my life?
When I first started this series last year, I genuinely had no clue what I was getting myself into. After finishing God of Malice and picking up God of Pain, I remember thinking—okay, I’ve read a LOT of grumpy x sunshine romances before… but what would a dark version of it even look like?
Well…
Safe to say I absolutely ate this book up.
Creighton and Annika as a duo? I honestly don’t even know how to explain them properly but I loved them so much. Their whole dynamic just worked for me.
💞 What Made Me Swoon
Creighton is literally the definition of grumpy.
Silent, brooding, aloof, constantly observing everyone around him while speaking only when absolutely necessary. And on top of that? My guy is an insanely good boxer too.
Then there’s Annika—literal sunshine in human form.
She’s happy, talkative, smiley, full of energy, and honestly impossible to ignore. But what I loved most was that she wasn’t portrayed as this naive overly soft sunshine character. My girl had a badass side too and I LOVED that.
And the moment Annika entered Creighton’s life?
Yeah… this man was immediately thrown off axis.
No matter how nonchalant he tried to act, the second her attention shifted somewhere else, he instantly noticed and wanted it back on him.
The fake boyfriend mission scenes???
OH MY GOD.
The jealousy and possessiveness practically radiating off this man was honestly so hot to watch.
And the little things he did for her?? Sir please.
- upgrading his car immediately because she couldn’t sit on his lap comfortably anymore
- buying her a pink-purple diamond necklace for her birthday
- eating her food without complaining even though her cooking genuinely looked hazardous to human health
LIKE???
This man barely spoke but every action screamed obsessed.
And not gonna lie… I genuinely did not expect his freak side but did I love it? Absolutely yes.
Though I gotta admit—I have a tiny love-hate relationship with his nickname for her. Like yes it’s based on her favorite color but sir… respectfully, you could’ve done better 😭
Annika was honestly my kinda girl.
I loved her inner monologues so much and I loved how she never backed down despite her father and brother being overprotective of her. True mafia princess energy.
The way she kept trying to befriend Creighton no matter how annoyed he acted had me giggling because eventually this man literally couldn’t survive without her talking his ear off anymore 🤣
And honestly? I’ve seen people hate on Annika for what she did to Creighton but y’all are forgetting what he did to her brother first. From my perspective, her reaction made complete sense because she was fiercely protective of the people she loved.
💔 What Stayed With Me
The way someone as emotionally closed off as Creighton slowly became completely addicted to Annika’s presence.
Their dynamic was chaotic, possessive, funny, vulnerable, and weirdly wholesome all at once.
🌙 A Small Wish
Honestly not much because I genuinely loved this book.
But I WILL say this—Remi’s presence in this book was everything. That man is such an entertaining enigma and every scene with him immediately became better.
Lowkey wish Rina Kent gave him his own book too because I would eat that up immediately.
🌷 Final Page
This book had everything I wanted—chemistry, tension, obsession, vulnerability, humor, possessiveness, and spice that absolutely delivered.
Creighton and Annika completely consumed my brain while reading this and honestly? No regrets whatsoever.
