Awake at Dawn by Amelie Rhys - Review - Sports Romance with an MMC who gives DADDY energy🏈💞⛸️
Rating: 5/5⭐
✨ A Soft Glimpse
A chaotic, heartwarming love story filled with quiet devotion, unexpected family, and a man so hopelessly in love that every little action feels like a confession.
🌸 My thoughts…
It was sometime last year when I came across this book because I desperately wanted to read something new—especially from an author I had never tried before. One of my friends recommended it to me because she absolutely loved it, and naturally… I did what any sane person would do.
I borrowed it immediately.
The cover? Stunning.
The blurb? Had me giggling.
And the tropes?
Brother’s best friend.
Boy obsessed.
Accidental pregnancy (not his).
Yeah… my brain didn’t stand a chance.
The moment I saw all of that together, I knew I had to read it immediately.
And honestly? Noah and Gemma completely consumed me from the very beginning.
💞 What Made Me Swoon
Please don’t even get me started on Noah because THIS MAN.
Obsessed with her from the moment he met her? Check.
Hopelessly down bad in a way he physically cannot say no to her? Check.
Protective, supportive, possessive, caring? Also check.
He genuinely just woke up one day and decided to tick every single box possible.
The way he gives her a place to stay under the excuse of helping with his niece and dog because he knows she doesn’t want to feel like a burden? My heart melted immediately.
And then this man proceeds to:
cook her nutrient-dense meals because of her morning sickness
keep track of her pregnancy milestones
quietly show up for her in every possible way without demanding anything in return
Like sir… be serious.
The nursery scene?
Yeah, I was DONE for.
Watching him physically and emotionally support her through pregnancy while trying so hard not to cross lines because she’s his best friend’s sister made everything even better. Every little action screamed “I’m all in” long before he ever admitted it out loud.
And honestly? He may not have been the father… but this man was absolutely DADDY.
Gemma, on the other hand, was such a strong and empowering character in her own way. Her pregnancy journey wasn’t easy at all, especially in the beginning, but I loved watching her slowly grow into this stronger, more confident version of herself.
Despite everything changing so suddenly, she never gave up on her dreams or herself.
What made Noah and Gemma work so beautifully together was how natural they felt. It never felt forced. It felt like two people who had always belonged beside each other even before they realized it themselves.
The chemistry, the yearning, the tension, the soft touches, the vulnerability… and yes, the spice too?
Absolutely addictive.
💔 What Stayed With Me
The quiet care between them.
Not grand gestures or dramatic moments—but the small, everyday acts of love that slowly built something safe, comforting, and deeply emotional.
🌷 Final Page
This book honestly felt like an addiction in the best possible way.
Sweet, emotional, comforting, spicy, and completely impossible to put down.
Amelie Rhys absolutely knew what she was doing with this story because Noah and Gemma have permanently carved a place in my heart.
And safe to say… I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series.
