Rating: 4/5⭐
🤍Thank you
First and foremost I would like to thank the author Emma Kate and Flirtation point publishing for this ARC of the book truly grateful for this opportunity.✨ A Soft Glimpse
A slow-burning forbidden romance between a female coach and a male player—filled with tension, growth, and the quiet power of choosing yourself.
🌸 My Thoughts…
When I started this book, I honestly had zero expectations. I went in purely out of curiosity after reading the description, especially because of one detail that immediately caught my attention—a female coach and a male player.
There’s something about women in positions of power in romance books that always excites me. It feels refreshing, empowering, and different from the usual dynamics I often read.
And since this was my first book from this author, I had no idea what to expect.
But one thing I can say for sure—I was not disappointed.
💞 The Slow Burn Experience
This is one of those books that doesn’t immediately pull you in. In fact, I found the beginning a little slow, and I honestly felt myself slipping into a reading slump until around the 60% of the book.
But then… everything changed.
The tension between Finley and Beckett started building in a way that felt so natural yet so intense. The attraction, the unspoken feelings, the lingering looks—it all slowly became impossible to ignore.
And when that “f**k it” moment finally came? It was everything. That release of tension felt like an itch finally being scratched in the best way possible.
Forbidden romance just hits differently, and this one definitely proved that.
💪 What Made It More Than Just Romance
Beyond the chemistry, what I really appreciated was the deeper message of the story.
Finley’s journey, in particular, reflected so much strength and independence. This wasn’t just about romance—it was also about woman empowerment, ambition, and choosing to live life on your own terms rather than according to others’ expectations.
Both Finley and Beckett showed that staying true to your goals and choosing yourself first really does matter in the long run.
🌙 A Small Wish
That said, I did feel the book dragged a little around the 80% of the book, which could have been tightened slightly for better pacing.
I also wished we got flashbacks of Beckett teaching Finley her slap shot instead of only hearing it through narration—it would have made those moments feel even more personal and impactful.
🌷 Final Page
Overall, this was an amazing read. A slow-burn forbidden romance with strong emotional payoff, meaningful themes, and chemistry that builds beautifully over time.
It may start slow, but it definitely finishes strong.
